1. What Treksup is

Treksup is a planning tool for multi-day hikes. It compiles route geometry, stage information, accommodation, transport, weather and safety notes from published sources, which are credited in the app.

2. The mountains are your responsibility

Hiking in mountain terrain can be dangerous and can kill. Treksup is an aid to planning, not a guide, not a safety device and not a substitute for your own judgement, fitness, preparation, up-to-date local information or, where appropriate, a qualified guide. You alone decide whether to start, continue or turn around.

3. Information can be wrong or stale

We work hard to source route data honestly — routes marked preview say so, and figures we could not confirm are flagged in the app — but trails change: paths close, bridges wash out, huts shut, timetables and prices change. Conditions information in the app is a dated snapshot, never a live feed. Always check the official sources the app links to before and during your trip.

4. Navigation and GPS

Phone GPS can be inaccurate or unavailable. Do not rely on the app as your only means of navigation. Recording stops when the app is closed.

5. Weather

Forecasts shown in the app come from third parties, are inherently uncertain, and are no substitute for official local warnings.

6. No warranty; limitation of liability

The app is provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we accept no liability for loss, injury or damage arising from use of the app or reliance on its content. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

7. Accounts

An account is optional and is needed only to post in the community feed, comment, follow other walkers, or report a trail hazard. You must be at least 16, give a real email address, and keep your password to yourself. You are responsible for what happens under your account. You can delete it at any time from inside the app, which removes your profile, posts, photos, comments and hazard reports.

8. Your content

Hikes you record stay on your device and are nobody's business but yours.

Anything you deliberately publish — posts, photographs, comments and trail hazard reports — remains yours. By publishing it you give us permission to store it and show it to other people using Treksup, for as long as you leave it up. Delete it, or delete your account, and that permission ends.

Only publish content you actually own or have the right to share, and remember that a hazard report carries the coordinates you were standing in.

9. What is not allowed, and what happens

There is no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive behaviour. Do not post anything that is:

• illegal, or that encourages something illegal;
• abusive, hateful, harassing, threatening, or aimed at a person rather than a topic;
• sexual content, or anything involving a minor;
• somebody else's private information;
• spam, advertising, or a link posted to get clicks;
• a deliberately false trail report. People make decisions in the mountains on the strength of these, and inventing one is the most harmful thing you can do here.

Every post, comment and hazard report can be reported from inside the app, and you can block any user, which hides their content from you and yours from them. We review reports and aim to act within 24 hours. We may hide or remove content and suspend or terminate an account that breaks these rules, without notice where the content is seriously harmful.

10. Trail reports are walkers, not authorities

Hazard reports in the app are written by other users. They are one person's account of what they saw on one day, they are not checked by us, and they are shown as such. The official closures and notices that each route links to are the ones to trust when the two disagree.

11. Third-party content

Route photographs are licensed from their photographers via Wikimedia Commons; credits are in the app under Settings. Map and place data © OpenStreetMap contributors (ODbL). Weather data from Open-Meteo. Their licences apply to their content.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms; the app will show the current version and the date it changed.
